Images not working in browser

I have been ported over to a new server by my hosting service, and have since had troubles with my images displaying in my pages. I am assuming that all the code is correct, I have been pouring over it for the last two days.

I think that it might be a server issue, as nothing that I do to change the code to give a work-around is working to display the images. I just get the dreaded red-x symbol where each image is placed on my pages.

Also, I can right-click in Firefox to "View Image", which then proceeds to display each image in a new window. Therefore, the code liking the image itself is correct. When I type the direct address for the image file into the web browser, it also displays the image.

I have even just created a simple HTML page with an image on it to ensure that it wasn't the code from my pages that was causing the missing images, and still the image didn't show on the page.

The link to my site is here: http://www.familybaptistmi.org/index.html if someone wants to view the source code for my document. Also, you will be able to see for yourself that my images won't load within the document.

As I was looking over forums, I found that some who had this problem just had to add the "onLoad" behavior to "Pre-load images" for each pic, but I have already tried that, and it doesn't work as well. This is why I am thinking that it is a problem with my server, in which case I'll take this up with my support department.

Just wanted to check here first and see if anyone had any suggestions, or in the best case, solutions! Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Sincerely,
John Sullivan

You don't have permission to access /images/banners/sermons.gif on this server.
It looks like there is a permission problem on your files.

Yeah, I told that to my support department, and they said that they had no problem accessing my files - directly.

I have just sent them another message telling them to try to load my webpage and then see that the images don't load within it.

Other than that, you don't see any problems in my code or anything like that, right? Thanks.

No, I haven't seen anything other than that.

For me, the problem might be that they copied the files with a regular user account from the server (might even be the root user), and the files are not in the right group or assigned to the right user anymore. They might have been reassigned to the user that did the file move.
Or it might be a problem on the ftp side setup, where your ftp user doesn't have the same access right than the user running the web server, but all this is definitively out of your league.

The problem is on the server side, and it's the support job to fix it.

Try putting your images in a new folder and switch your filepaths in the code. As far as any errors in your code I found none. The only suggestion I have for you code wise is with that much css you should consider using an external style sheet.

Hey thanks to you all who helped me with this. FINALLY at about 5:00 this morning support got around to my problem, and sure enough it was a problem on the server side of things. You can now see if you access my site that all images are fully functional.

Again, thank you so much.

I'm excited to be a part of such a great forum for web-masters; I only hope that I'll become proficient enough to be able to help others who have questions someday.

Take care!
