How is your websites ?


i am 3d animator, i like programing and i like to design my website by my self.

I have some experiences in web designing and programing, but some time i need some help.

How many keyword can i use in the meta section in html page ?

i will insert about 1000 keywords related to my work (3d animation)


is Google will use this 1000 keywords or it will ignore it ?

The problem with this tag (it's called the meta keywords tag) is that very few major search engines accept it as an official tag anymore. It's debated whether they make a difference or not.

But yes, you could theoretically insert all the keywords that you wanted. But if you do use them, don't waste your time and do the "keyword stuffing" thing (aka putting 1000's of keywords in). You will most likely get better listing with the few search engines that don't ignore the tag if you only put around 20 keywords in there.

Upto 20 strong keywords related to your content would be perfect to use mate.

Inserting more than 20 keywords will do more damage than good. Especially inserting 1000!!

The actual answer is:

Use as many as you want or as few as you want. Because it will make ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE at all to anything.
(Apart from making your page "heavier" in downloadable bytes)

lol is that actually true for like EVERY SE out there?
There must be some glimmer of hope for web devs who use meta tag keywords an SE doesnt just limit to text actually found on a webpage surely some even google still use the keywords meta? i think it does

Out of the main four SEs (Ask,Google,MSN & Yahoo), only Yahoo! use the meta keywords content for anything at all, and there it is not a major factor. If you have a word in the keywords element that nobody else is using anywhere in the known universe it might appear for that word.

And Yahoo only uses it for very rare keywords that have basically zero competition and very few, if any searches. Your time would be much better spent doing other things.

Those other things would be making your actual content relevant, which SEs DO take notice of.

I doubt it would make any difference. For cleaner code and to avoid a huge file size, I would say pick your best 15-30. Listing 1000 will be messy as hell. If your content is truly related to that many keywords, then break it up into multiple well targeted pages, you will get much more traffic that way anyway.

I have seen websites that had no meta tags and i have seen sites that had hundred with different spelling and all kinds of other crap in them, when i make meta tags i usually just put 10 or 15 words in them that has something to do with my websites content.

I found my ranks actually lowered when I put keywords in the meta tag (not spammy, just five different). Probably just a coincidence though

My take - dont bother - I dont even bother with meta keyworsd anymore in new sites I design, tag is not even there.

Well, don't think that packing the main content is going to help either; it won't. The trick is to make your content logical and relevant.

There is one meta you could spend some time on -- the "description" one, because that's what shows up in a SE listing. A SHORT, well-worded description of your site on the home page, and short descriptions of sub-pages can help your SE, again, so long as they are relevant to your content and not packed with extraneous fluff. Also make sure that all your title tags are relevant to your content, short and not packed. The major SEs have largely found ways to dispense with all the stupid little tricks people tried to use to abuse rankings.

Well there is one thing you're missing right there... The "keyword" could also be a phrase... So I do not agree... Always use meta keywords. If your playing with google adsense then the meta keywords is relevant to, so it's a good idea to just spend those 2 minutes on this!

It's not a waste of time and effort!

Use the meta keyword tag - it's the safest thing to do anyway, why not do it? Its only 1 line? Why would the meta keyword tag exist, if it's not working anyway? Come on... Are you using adsense, meta keywords tag is also important!

Umm.. because it's IGNORED, nearly 100% of the time by all major search engines ??

Lets see.. why does ancient code like <center> and <font> still exist ?? Like the meta keyword tag, it's a holdover from a time when they actually meant something and WERE useful.. from an earlier time when search engines actually paid attention to what was in it !! However, people abused it with keyword stuffing, and the major search engines decided that they would ignore the much-abused tag in an attempt to short-circuit the abusers.

Are you using adsense, meta keywords tag is also important!

Well I'm a member on the warriorforum, and they told me in a thread that meta tags is important for adsense, I trust them.
