Hey all,

Ok, so I've spent the last 2 hours trying to figure this one out. Maybe it's right in front of my eyes but I can't figure it out.

Ok so in Dreamewaver my background image lines up with my website but when I publish it and view it in Firefox and Safari the page is 7px higher than the background. Where as in IE its in line with the background. If I edit the background files to compensate for this in FF and SF then it's shifted IE. Please help!

site: http://www.ryanalden.com

If you're on a mac and don't have IE (even though it's correct) to see the difference go here:

http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/index.php

and insert my website addy.

Thanks in advance

Looks fine to me in IE and Firefox. Great website btw I like how you did with the colors all over the page. Excellent work.

You might be talking about http://www.ryanalden.com/404.html. I can see it's somehow misaligned. Doesn't look like anything too serious maybe some padding, margin stuff. I personally just try everything till it works properly

Forget what DW shows in preview, no user of the website will be using Dreamweaver for browsing.

It looks exactly the same for me FF 3, IE 6, Opera 9, Seamonkey 1.1 and NS 7.1

To me it looks like you made some mystery meat navigation

Maybe try to fix that by adding something on there that says "Mouse over the sign on the right to browse my pages!" or something like that. The 'menu' green sign is tough to see when your not looking for it.

The shifting vertically thing happens to mine too. I can't figure that one out, sorry.

Maybe for that background issue you could try making it static, so that it can't move, or make it a banner-type thing. I take it your talking about the 'whoosh' background. I think it's cool! Like the focal point of the page is the old man, because the bigger whooshes lead up to him. Great job with the design!

Except that that is NOT supported by IE6

I have to agree, you've definitely created 'mystery meat' navigation, which is just not good. It's creative.. just not very user friendly.

It should! I also like how the picture comes into colour as you hover over it, it's neat!
