Hello, I am in the process of launching my company as a full registered company for design services as I have a lot of clients these days and I am seeking assistance with an issue I have been having lately.

I use to offer web design using tables then I moved to css and now I am almost done learning the basics of table less xhtml and can get websites validated through w3 however have trouble with the background image with firefox.

I only tested so far with firefox and ie.

I am using XHTML Transistional 1.1 and the background with repeat-x.

I am not looking for negative comments, I am simply looking for assistance so I can offer even better services to clients. I have a lot of very happy clients who keep coming back and giving referals etc. However I want to provide not only the best support however the best services as well.

XHTML1.1 isn't fully supported by browsers (especially IE) as yet, use XHTML1.0 and you shouldn't have too many "issues"

I will give that a try. It works fine in IE however firefox does not show background.

Please note this is not a complete site and is works in progress so there is not content etc yet.

If this is the fix that is really easy to do.

Only IE will treat a background image as "content" and expand the element.

decent browsers handle it correctly and collapse the element to nothing.

It looks like I was actually using XHTML 1.0, I am new to XHTML so still learning however can someone provide me with some insight?

I am not seeing the background for the content either now only in IE it seems.

Is there a certain tag I need to add for XHTML backgrounds?

I used:
background-image: url(images/bg.jpg);
background-repeat: repeat-x;

That is not a "tag" it is a style rule.

Umm.. the path for "layer10" looks like this:

background:transparent url(file:///C|/XHTML%20Services/ZoomActive%205/sitegmedia/layer10.gif)

The path needs to be relative to the css file or it's not going to work. That path goes to YOUR C drive

Same goes for "layer 9".

You really do NOT want to use all that position:absolute, it WILL cause you problems and unnecessarily complicates things.

Oh, I know it wont work if that is there and how I overlooked that is funny. I thought I fixed that issue. Lol
