I have a general question about XHTML.

Can a website use a px width as well as a auto width at once?

What I mean by this is...

I want the website to be an auto 100% width however if someone has the worlds smallest monitor I want my website to be a cerain width and not get smaller than that defined width "780px".

I am working on doing em's now however am curious if this is possible.

Thanks!

It will do that automatically if you don't specify a width to start with.

Then you will have to use min-width, which all the GOOD browsers support. Unfortunately IE6 and below does not. For them you need some javascript to make it work.
