This is an upgrade after my research.
I bought all these books except "3".
Actually, I should have placed this thread in the CSS section.
1. "Bulletproof Web Design" bought it, am a third through, recommended.
2. "CSS mastery" also very to the point, a well designed and well written book.
3. I also recommend the CSS book of the "Missing Manual" series by David McFarland. Very good explanations and definitions. Haven't bought it yet, as I got the basics of CSS from another book.
4. And finally, a Javascipt book, David McFarland's book of the "Missing Manual" series. Goes pretty soon into using the JQery library. Seems to be the most practical and to the point Javascript book for a beginner who doesn't want to become a programmer.
5. "Pro CSS and HTML Design Patterns" by Michael Bowers. Apress. Excellent book, treats virtually every single feature of CSS and applies it to a pattern, that are all cross-browser compatible (except if noted, e.g. for older IE).
