What can cause a text input box to shrink so it appears thin when I paste the code into a webpage?

Please help, its driving me mad!!

I have a form that is going to be used to search for a domain. It consists of a textbox, a dropdown list and a button. Everything works fine on the form but as soon as I cut an paste the code into a website the textbox area shrinks into a thin line. I have no idea what this could be because the form works okay on its own. Common sense tells me that something in the website is causing this problem but I have no idea what that could be. I have tried putting a 'clear' at both ends of the code and putting somewhere else on the webpage but the problem persists. Please help. I know that you can only give me your guesses because I can't show you the problem seen as its not uploaded but your guesses may be right so any ideas please let me know.

The field could be being incorrectly styled by CSS

Try renaming the class and ID attribute values of the field in question

If the site isn't on-line, then post the code.
