This is a topic probably covered quite a bit but I still have a question Im afraid. I've only just realised that the site Im working on is different in IE compared to firefox, generally its the size of the font which is where Im confused.

I looked at the conding using a validator and found a number of errors would fixing these errors solve my problem?

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ww...Inline&group=0

The site im working on is www.safescapeservices.com

Appreciate your comments

The font sizing looks pretty much the same to me on Firefox and IE6.

Getting rid of those nasty <font> tags would get rid of most of the validation errors, and fixing the missing </div> tag too.

You've got the font sizing nailed down at 11px, that should be consistent on all browsers.

thanks for your response, take a look at the slogan top right:

Call us for a free site survey and no obligation quotation. Tel: 01622 882 282

and the contact details down the botton.

In IE these are much bigger and bold:

this seems to be the worst page but maybe its because I hav info on the right hand side:

http://www.safescapeservices.com/emergencylight.html

I think first place to start is going through the errors 1 by 1 but do you think that will correct the problem?

Is firefox more foregiving as the site looks fine in firefox?

For that slogan on the right, affected by "style29", in IE that's set to 22px, whereas in Firefox there is no style29 being applied, so the text is inheriting from it's parent sizing. The same is true for the other text differences, styles being applied in IE that are not there in Firefox. Are you calling a different css file for IE ?
Fixing the validation errors MAY resolve some of the problems.

I dont think its calling for a seperate style sheet, seems strange.

I'll take the emergency light page and go through the errors 1 by 1 and see where we stand.

Thanks

Yes, there is another stylesheet being called for IE, it's in a conditional comment at the top of your page:
it's calling this file - style.ie6.css

IE has a number of bugs and non-standard ways of doing some things. The ONLY thing that should be in that IE-only css file are those css rules necessary to combat the bugs and bad behavior. I'm not sure I understand the reason for 90% of what's in your IE-only file though.

Hmmm this seemed more difficuly then I imagined, I was hoping to basically delete the CSS for IE and remove the sction which calls for it from the page, but it didnt work as I thought it would, could anyone offer any advice please.

Template was a free download, the budget for this website is $0 so just making do with what we can find.
