Hi all,

I am trying to stream an mp3 file from my website and I am running into some problems.

With FF it works fine, however, with IE8 it says it "cannot display page."

I originally had it as just a normal link which I thought had always worked for me in the past and then tried adding the type attribute after reading a post on a different forum but I still had no luck.

<a href="../files/Talk_Show_Interview.mp3" type="audio/x-mpegurl">The Talk Show</a>

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sean

Do you have a plugin for streaming mpeg audio in IE8? If so, try updating the plugin or try a different one.

Personally I absolutely hate when I land on a site and it takes forever to load, makes the browser buggy, and then starts playing audio that you can't control. And then when linking to it then you leave the site, and that can be annoying too. I might recommend that you make the audio play within the site, using flash.

http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/

The above link is an open source project, that allows you to use various types of flash designs to insert media into your website, that loads much faster, and is more user friendly, also gives you the benefit of the doubt no need to know if they have the Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or VLC plug-ins installed most systems have Adobe Flash installed. Hope my recommendation helps you out.

Best of luck,
