Because it was actually substantiated. If you want to use it as your lucky rabbit foot, that is fine with me. But recognize that is what it is. I work with developers that insist I use it.
Okay, there is ONE usage for meta keywords: they can be used by internal search applications. Usually one wants to search based on database results, not META tags, but this is one thing that they could be useful for. PHP, for example, has functions to read them automatically ( get_meta_tags). Of course this function could also be used very easily to scope out competetitors' keywords, since it is easy to open any file on the internet through HTTP protocol. |
