I want to learn how to make the description and keyword tags invisible from scrapers, copycats, and tag pirates.

I've seen a lot of source where those tags are spidered, I want to know how.

Don't put them in the source code.

By it's very definition, the Google spider is a "scraper". If you don't have the tag in your source it can't be read. Period. Nothing posted publicly on the internet can be made private...

Like Wayfarer said, you'll also be making that information invisible to SEARCH ENGINES.. not a good move.

I totally get what you both are saying, I'm wondering how these top indexed and high authority sites get by without them. I understand how Google puts the description together for a listing -- essentially ignoring a <d></> tag but not always.

And the buzz I hear from sources of many shapes and flavors is that the keyword tag is useless in the source code but necessary for directory submissions etc.

Comments

BTW I agree, I'm not dropping the description tag from my source, I need it for other purposes anyway.

Because "authority" and "indexing" are absolutely nothing to do with meta information.
