W3 is a great place to start. Since it sounds like you are brand new, then going with a provider that packages together hosting, domain, template design is an idea. You can get your feet wet for minimal investment and learn as you go without having to jump into development right away.

But if you directly want to fly without license then that this is also possible. Online and offline we have a large number of tools that help to make a site.
These tools are very easy to use. just search and you will get a lot.
example of offline is dreamweaver n online wix.com etc.....

Just do yourself a favor. Learn to code the correct way in the beginning. It will save you tons of time.

http://cbtnuggets.com - this place has video training, pretty good actually, although I have only used their Networking/Systems training. You do have to pay for the packages, but they are certification packages. Good training.

When I first started websites I remember the first one I created was on Freewebz and Tripod. Freewebz and Tripod back in the day (years ago) had a setup wizard which of course is n00bish but it gave me a sense of how websites are setup. You select a design, input the content and your ready to go.

I think if your starting a website the best place to start is WordPress. It has a build in CMS (Content Management System) much like Freewebz and Tripod had that makes learning the basic fundamentals of a website much easier. I hope I've been helpful. Best of luck!

I am also brand new for all intensive purposes. I know very, very rudimentary html and enough CSS to change some colors and fonts around on free designs for forums such as Zetaboards. The w3 site looks great and I'll start reading so I don't need interfaces or crutches in the future, but for now I'm in a time crunch sadly. I need a professional looking site (preferrably using a free editor or web tool) + hosting. I tried Weebly.com, which has a really friendly interface, but I found that my control over the layout and CSS is very minimal. I tried incorporating a free CSS layout from a template site, but it wasn't compatible with the html. (Again I won't know anything until I read up on some of these tutorials) but my guess is that the Weebly interface uses shortcuts that are specific to the site, and aren't compatible with regular CSS.

u can find many online tutorials. If you are not serious about designing and hosting your site, go for a free blog site via blogger or wordpress.

You must know the basic of html/css in order to understand on how to make a website. There are lots of tutorials out there in the internet just google it or it would be much better if you will hire a private adviser.

I am new here and I see that you've got a problem on how to make your own website. My suggestion is try visit this site "www.w3schools.com", it could help you a lot. It could give you all the details and information that you want to know. And my other suggestion would be, Macromedia Dreamweaver. It is a program that you don't have to start from scratch because there are plenty of templates to choose from. all you gotta is just edit the contents of your chosen templates.

Let me ask you a question - what kind of site would that be? Will it be some informational site or a blog or a forum? What are the requirements for the site?

Actually there are lots of software packages nowadays (CMS systems, etc) that will help you to build the required site easily.

Sure, if you would like to study technologies, then you need to review lost of information for that.
