Hello,

I'm working on a website for a family member but I'm having an issue with internet explorer:

If you view this website www.tavernofstclair.com with firefox or dreamweaver, you'll notice the .gif that says "Special Events" is present (below the tavern logo to the right).

BUT

If you view the website through Internet Explorer the image is no longer there.

Do you guys know what could be causing this? The website is displayed perfectly with firefox or dreamweaver ... however most of the visitors will probably be on Internet Explorer.

Can anyone shed some light upon this problem?

Thanks

Several things here.

1. Add a height and width parameter to all graphics.
2. Make sure that all graphics are at least 1-2px smaller than the alloted div space.
3. Consider making your divs specific widths.
4. Why framesets? Look at using Iframes especially if that content is databased.

Since 3 out of 4 of your graphics are NOT showing up, I'm betting they are outside the borders of the respective divs. Mozilla products don't care. Exploder does.

Dreamweaver sucks on this issue. It makes things look ok but yet they aren't.
The rendering screen inside Dreamweaver is pathetic.

Always test your pages with IE.

It could literally be a picture width of 1px causing them not to show.

Hrmm. I've tried resizing several times and just can't seem to get it to work.

Is there anyway someone could take a look at the source and tell me what I should try next?

I'm just trying to get this .gif to appear on the blank spot:

I DID take a look at your source!

And I just looked at it again. You did not do what I told you to do.

If you are going to come in here asking for help, don't ignore what you hear.

2. Make sure that all graphics are at least 1-2px smaller than the alloted div space.

Well, I would feel safe betting $5 that you did not make all the changes I mentioned.

Resizing the graphics by itself is not going to solve the problem.

Hello,

I think it is Web Browser compatibility issue. It happens sometimes that a site runs good in one browser and in other it displays error or something corrupt.
That's why at the end of many websites it is written" best viewed in IE or Mf"

If You are using CSS then try to change the Wrap. Might be that works.

And they do that because they're too lazy to actually learn to FIX the problems.

Bordes - as already stated, you MUST assign dimensions to your images in the html, leaving it out is forcing the browser to guess, and, as you've found, IE does a crappy job of doing that.

I also see no point in the frames, and they're really bad for SEO.
