Is there anything in HTML that you can still use a marquee? There was the old marquee tag - but I think that got pulled. Anything took its place?

<MARQUEE ...> is often regarded as one of the "evil" tags, and that perception alone might be enough reason to not use it. However, used lightly and with taste (and understanding that it will never render everywhere), <MARQUEE ...> isn't such a bad tag. It can work well for announcements.
The basic use of <MARQUEE ...> is simple. Put most any kind of markup between <MARQUEE ...> and </MARQUEE>.

<marquee direction="up" scrolldelay="1" scrollamount="2">Content</marquee>

^ This will make the marquee scroll up instead of the usual left to right

The tag has been deprecated, thankfully!
That scrolling marquee is distracting, constantly moving and drawing your visitor's eyes AWAY from the rest of your content. This really isn't what you want to have happen - unless that marquee text is the only thing you want people to really pay attention to.

Yea, when i was in my schooling days and started learnin HTML , i used to love this tag a lot and i used to show it to my friends and stuff lol :P . But i do not use it anymore, and why should anyone use it anymore.

We have JS [javascript] , ajax now and with that alone you can create much better scrolling and other effects to actually help you out with the "beautification" of the website . and there are so many free resources available on the www , that you dont have to actually know the language. One place you can start is the dynamicdrive :P .

Anyways the marquee tag does have many other properties as well , like the background color, width [ accross the screen ] and a few more which could be useful including what downliner has shown you.

Prateek,
PDJSolutions.
