Hi,

I was not sure where to go with this post, hope this is the right place. Been having lots of problems lately with my internet connection here (northern Thailand) so not sure if I have coding errors or not in my website. I use Firefox (3.5.2) and my site looks fine when I access it via Firefox. But tonight I had a look at it with Internet Explorer and it was all over the place, the homepage was a mess. Could someone have a look at my site with I.E. and tell me what they see ? The address is http://lannacharm.myshopify.com/
Hoping the problem has something to do with my version of I.E.
Thanks in advance, Mickmac

Just looked in IE8 and Firefox 3.5.2. As far as I could see you don't have a problem.

Thanks aldor,

Maybe the problem is my version of I.E. I don't like using I.E. but because so many other people use it I have to be sure my site is I.E. friendly.

The only thing wrong with your site is you have too much content on that front page. And you could be a lot more consistent on your layout, sizing of graphics
and spacing between columns.

Plus some of your objects should be centered. Not left justified.

I just checked it in: IE7, Netscape7.2 and FF 3.5 and it shows up just fine.

Thanks for the advice, maybe I will remove some of the images from the lower half of the page.

IE 6 parses the HTML coding differently than Firefox. So your best bet is to upgrade IE so you can make it look the same with both browsers.

when I look at your site in Firefox it's fine but when I look at it in IE 6 .... the right column seems to have fallen down I guess it might be the coding for browser from IE incompatibility issues.

Nonsense. There are many issues with IE6, but that's just not one of them.

The usual cause of float drop, which you have there, is that the element inside your wrapper total wider than the wrapper itself. Check your total widths, which includes borders, margins and padding, and reduce widths until it pulls back up.

Thanks all for the replies and advice,

@ LadynRed - Once again, you were right. I removed the images from the lower half of the page and now the page looks ok in I.E.
It looks like the elements were indeed wider than the wrapper itself. Instead of displaying multiple images of our latest releases I will instead create a new page called "Latest Releases" and add a simple banner to the homepage to link to this page. Maybe just have 1 image on homepage which I can change now and then.
I like visitors to see something new whenever they view the site.

Thanks again,

Mickmac

Michael,

You can always put some form of image rotating script or image of the day script.
Also, remember to run compression on your bigger images.

Also, you need to put this line all on one line below those small pictures.

"Click here to go to our Wiki, Lana Charms handcrafted handbags."

and Change it to:

"Go to our Wiki, Lana Charms Handcrafted Handbags"

Also, kill that Free Web Counters script. Makes your site look a bit too Ameteur.
One man's opinion.

On those small pictures at the bottom of the page.

Space them out evenly. 3 Rows of 6.
That way you won't have that half-assed partial last line of pictures.
