Hi all, I'm the webmaster for GolfAC.com.

I'm redesigning the website to make it more appealing to the eye and I am hung up on what should be a really simple fix but it's been holding me back honestly for a few days.

The website was coded by someone other than me and is a total mess. I included a ZIP of the offending page and the files needed for it, it's the index page I'm having a problem with. If you preview it locally you should see what I mean.

If anyone can help me with this simple HTML problem, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks in advance everyone! Looking forward to my time on this forum.

No one is going to look at a zip, but I can tell you now the problem is probably just that the BODY has a default margin on it. I think Opera uses a default padding, so most developers reset it in their stylesheet like this:

CSS
Code:
body {
     margin: 0;
     padding: 0;
}

Do you have a link to the page in question?

Right now I am in the process of DIV'ing the page and positioning my elements that way, but with the way the other guy codes, it is a small mess. Perhaps you could help me in regard to wrapping a border around this entire page.

Looks like it was just Dreamweavered, not hand-coded, with a few exceptions here and there.

One thing I notice is this line:
HTML Code:
<!--base href="http://www.golfac.com/"-->
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
There shouldn't be anything before the DOCTYPE, even if it is just a comment. This will throw IE into Quirks Mode, which will make it much to make display the same as other browsers.

It looks like you already have a border around the page. Did you do this or am I not understanding what you mean here?

Oh, you know what, I accidentally uploaded the old index to the test site. Check it out now, it should be the file I am working on.

The problem you're describing comes from the position:absolute on the .main class

I would seriously consider just starting over with this code. If it was up to me I would scrap it.
