Hi guys. I'm curious as to how you can freeze a table in a fixed position so as to not let it move with the other tables kind of like a freeze pane in excel? Any ideas?

Sorry, I must have not been detailed. This is not for excel. I'm creating a website that is consistent of 2 tables. Within the table, I have a <td> that acts as a far left column with links to each page. When you scroll down, all the tables scroll up and down. I want this specific column which is a <td> to stay in a fixed position regardless of where the viewer scrolls, up or down. The link need to stay there so its always viewable. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

use css and divs - tables aren't for layout anymore

No not really i do not see any reason why people can not use table to layout a website, i think it is basically a matter of choice.

man i didn't think we were still going to be going through this after all these years
no, it's a matter of bad design. tables are for tabular data and not for layout. they were (ab)used for layout years ago before people got the hang of css and support grew in browsers but now it's just redundant.

why would you use a table for layout instead of using the normal document flow of appropriate semantic elements (<li>sts for lists, <h>eadings for headings, etc) and divs when required?!

See if this helps. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici.../stayontop.htm

Alot of good info here to help refine a site. I just have to figure out how to put it to good use.
