This is a huge pet peeve of mine that I can't figure out.

When I'm making a site, if a page does not need a scrollbar, it centers without one, obviously.

However, when a scrollbar is needed, the page centers with the scrollbar so it causes what looks like a jump from page to page.

Is there any workaround or way to include the scroll bar dimensions on the pages that doesn't use one, just for aesthetics sake?

Thanks so much!
Rob

Rob,

Yep, it sucks. IE used to show a scrollbar on every page, now it doesn't.

Quick google search to force the scrollbar to be shown found this:
http://blog.nanorails.com/articles/2...-your-web-page

Google seems to be showing the scrollbar at all times when using IE, but not Firefox.

Am interested in hearing other solutions

(after reading some comments on that link I sent you, it may not be the best implementation...)

I just have to say... while the sideways jump because of the sidebar bothers YOU, users, for the most part, could care less. I've asked people, 99% of them say to me 'what jump ?' . Unless it's another designer, people don't care or notice.
