Hey everyone, I am new to web design and am trying to design a website where people can become a member to my site (like this one) and trade/sell tobacco pipes and hookahs. I need the users to be able to create an account and post their pipes for everyone else to see.

My question is one, is this possible for a new web designer to achieve this with a program out there (dreamweaver, fireworks, ect.) and two, which program should I use.

I enjoy learning about this subject and have already created a simple website with dreamweaver and fireworks, so I am willing to put in the hours to learn it.

DW and FW are important tools as they allow you to do the interface design part of the website, but to add the functional & dynamic features you will need to learn & use some scripting language.


If you are planning to host you website on a Linux server then PHP will be good choice and for Windows you can go for .NET.

i think you should learn php if you want to create any ecommerce site.Out there, There are a lot of free ecommerce script based in php, just digg into google to get it.

OK great I will get right on that! Can I design the whole website with PHP, or can I use HTML (dreamweaver) for looks of the website and PHP for the commerce content?

DW and FF just tools to design website,you need domain name and hosting provider,of course,these tools can build some simple website,
but it is too distance to a complete website.
LAMP is necessary to build a reality website.besides,HTML and CSS
is also important
