Hi;
I am going to design the forms of my application using css2. But unfortunately I may not set the width of text boxes (input tags) & also combo boxes (select tags) exactly. They would be a little thiner or wider than the specified size.
I should mention that the Document Type of my page is XHTML 1.0 Traditional. If I omit the Doctype note from the top of my page, then the whole controls would be as the desired size.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Sample</title>
<style type="text/css">
input, select
{
width: 150px;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>

<input type="text" />
<select>
<option>1</option>
<option>2</option>
<option>3</option>
<option>4</option>
</select>

</body>
</html>

Dear Chrishirst;
Thank you for your reply. But I found nothing about my problem within the three links you have sent.
My form controls with equal size would be a little smaller or larger than the specified width, if I use XHTML 1.0 Traditional as the page Document Type...

I guess you missed the point that styling form elements with CSS is fraught with complications and is not neccessarily attainable.
