and click favicon

it says


"Which is run by Bank of America"

many secure sites dont say WHO


how is that done??

Only on secure sites and only with FF3+

It's done by reading the SSL certificate.

most browsers will show the same info if you click on the "lock" secure site indicator.

right but many secure sites DO NOT show who it is run by when clicking favicon...so is it a premium ssl cert or coding?

FireFox shows this information from sites Certificate it doesn't need any programming you just need to order a Certificate from one of the CA's or their agents and they give you some files to setup in your host using your Hosting software like CPanel/WHM or Plesk depend on your host.
For testing you can get a trial Certificate from on of CA's for example take a look on

This is also my question.
I do use Comodo CA Limited SSL on my site and all others work OK except the 'Which is run by' always display 'unknown'.
