I have a web site already built. I want to make it so an assigned user can change a single value on the home page. To be more specific, our website is a government website:

http://www.guernseysheriff.com

On the homepage, we have road condition levels (about half way down on the right). I want to make it so that our dispatchers can be able to just change the numeric value and nothing else. I've looked at content management programs but I think they are a little to complicated for what I want to do. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Do you know how to write PHP and MySQL.

You need a script that allows them to only update that number, but it should also automatically email everone when the number changes too.

Then simply use an IFRAME to INCLUDE the results from that front end script change.

Almost everything you would do with a content management system would allow then full access to the page. Same goes with any type of blog even with static pages.

It's easier to separate the script into its own world and let it feed the page section and the email alerts.

This of course is assuming you are databasing all those emails that sign up.

Hi dukhunter99,

A CMS "light" solution could work. There are a couple with free accounts for users who only need to make simple changes to their sites.

http://www.cushycms.com/
http://www.surrealcms.com/

Once you get an account started, your dispatchers could just log in and make the change without having to touch any code.
