I've embedded a windows media file and users are asked for permission to run the ad-on. I've changed the class id of the media player to the newest version, but that does'nt help. Anybody got any ideas on code that would not require users to give enternet explorer permission to run media player for the first time or is this just a media player thing that you can't get past?

You could turn it into a .FLV flash video file instead. Those work pretty well.

I suppose I could, but I'm working with pretty primitive programs here and do not have the software to convert the file. It just doesn't make sense that a microsoft program gives you a warning about another microsoft program.

It's Microsoft... lol, maybe you can find someone to convert it for you for a few bucks or something... I'd personally do flash.. IE thinks too much..

You want to avoid IE's security prompts -- do NOT use the <embed> tag! See our stickies for other methods of putting video into a web page.
