I'm amazed at the comments about <s> & <strike> does nobody actually keep up with standards? (That's a rhetorical question BTW )

they were both deprecated with HTML 4.01 in 1999 and the <del> and <ins> elements were introduced in HTML4 (1997)

I don't believe <blink> or <marquee> are included in any W3C documentation.

But {text-decoration:blink} is still a valid CSS style to torment users with.

Tis the season.

And oddly enough, in a rare exhibition of "getting it right" IE DOESN'T support the "blink" decoration.

Someone needs to tell Adobe that it is not ok to use same page or inline styles.
Dreamweaver still does both.

Then again, like many people I don't care. I've NEVER used a separated style sheet nor will I probably ever use one. I commented on this in another thread concerning globally updating things.

I may not want all my headers to change color at the same time, et.......
though sometimes it doesn't matter much.

As for H1 - H6 those originated from Microcrap Internet Exploder and
I try not to use them. I use size specific fonts instead so everything looks the same on ALL browsers. I just changed some things on my blogs to facilitate continuity of Header Titles on different browsers.

Just because they can be used doesn't mean they are a good thing.

As for blink, something on my Genealogy site ALWAYS blinks or flashes around Christmas. Hmmmmmm perhaps this year Rudolph will have flashing gonads.

Too much hassle to add music any more. I miss them days before the lawsuits.

So, for violating them rules I guess I'd better learn several versus of some prison songs and get ready to go to Coder Jail.

Maybe so, but the search engines DO give weight to proper use of headings.
I think your old school teachers would not have been happy had you turned in a report or term paper w/o a proper outline .. and proper document structure - which is what heading tags are meant for.

hmmmm... good article, though not sure I agree entirely. I still use the <h1> title tags etc for SEO reasons... and they work like magic... everytime!
