I'm as novice as it gets when it comes to web design. I have been task to build a website for my job and I have zero formal training in anything html. I've spent quite a bit of time watching tutorials but I need some assistance. I've built the site with dreamweaver cs4 and tested it with safari and firefox and it seemed alright. However, I purchased a domain to see it on our work computers which run i.e. 6 or earlier and the alignment is all messed up. Any thoughts on how to correct this? Thanks for your help. The site is www.patronsixteen.com

It looks also fine with my browser I don't see any problem. The design is not disarrange or something you made the design well. Maybe you just need to restart your computer.

Take a look at this for reference to fixing ie6 issues:
http://sixrevisions.com/web-developm...the-ie6-beast/

You do have two instances of id="tiled_content". You can only have ONE name per id. Classes can be repeated.

Make sure you add everything up correctly. Even a 1px border will cause a div to become too wide and drop down. Right now, your main_content is 650px wide with a padding-right of 5px(+2px for borders); The slideshow wrapper itself is 655px.

You're going to have to feed IE6 a separate stylesheet to correct it's many, many bugs and use conditional comments to call that CSS file.

1 - remove the right padding from #content - that will solve 1 problem.
2 - You are re-using ID's - you cannot do that, ID's MUST be UNIQUE. Change the ID to a CLASS - so you'll have div class="content" instead. Change #content to .content in the CSS
3 - CLEAR YOUR FLOATS - read our stickies for the best methods to do that.

See..this is why DW is NOT for beginners.

Thank you all for the help. In effort of full disclosure I am a navy pilot with absolutely no html/css/web design experience prior to this project. My limited knowledge come straight from lynda.com and adobe tv tutorials (hours and hours). I would concur that Dreamweaver probably isn't for beginners but thats what I used. I am going to try and correct the errors y'all mentioned so please come back to this thread periodically and help a rookie out!

Well then, this is an interesting side project for a Navy fly boy!

Lots of people START with Dreamweaver w/o knowing any code - that's like me getting into one of your jets and not knowing a THING about flying Unfortunately, you're pretty much doomed to crash, in a manner of speaking - crash in the web site context meaning messed up pages and things, like menus, that don't work. Left on it's own, DW still spits out some UGLY code, it's definitely not good on autopilot.

There is a book out - Mastering CSS with Dreamweaver CS4 - http://www.w3conversions.com/book/

This is a VERY good book and has a whole chapter on the SpryMenu creator.
