I know designing a site with tables is antiquated design methodology, but I still do it. My question is this:

Using the following non-live site as a guide, I have noticed that the tables will puff out throwing the site out of alignment.

http://technicom.parallaxsolutions.net

Example. The site is fine in a "normal view" on any given machine, but on my machine, Skype converts the Telephone number in the right pane to a graphic which puffs the table out and makes it larger than the table that holds the banner and navigation menu above it.

Is there any way to specify that a table is 775pix wide and can get no larger? I am concerned that the tables will puff if the site owner does something wacky in Adobe Contribute.

if you know it's antiquated why still do it? if you want to avoid issues with tables for layout then avoid using tables for layout.

wrap a DIV around it, and make the DIV have a width of 750px. This might not work in every situation, but it's worth a shot.

I definitely recommend moving away from tables. They do too many nasty things, though they're great for data.

make sure there is no padding on the table, padding adds to the width and height so say you had a 900x500 pixel table with 10px of padding, the table would become 910x510 pixels

Actually, 10px padding would add 10px to EACH side, so the size would be 920x520.
