I am trying to figure out how to ad a nice looking slid show to my site. I am thinking it is done with layers but im not sure how that works.

I want a slid show like this one at the top of these pages.

Well, All three of those are flash based slide shows. If you have flash, then you can follow some easy tutorials:

However if you do not, you can just as easily make a sideshow with java script

Also, there will not be many image overlay effects like the slideshows you provided in Javascript or JQuery, and it seems you like those. So flash may be your best option.

I would almost instantly agree. But I was thinking with new Jquery effects, you can do almost anything.
