Hi guys. I just made my first uncoded website template using Adobe Fireworks CS5 (Brand new).

I was wondering if you could tell me what you think and whther or not I should continue designing.

You can view the image here (it is too big to be uploaded)

Continue and experiment. If you are looking for a review of the template, the text is quite large and distracting...colors are nice though.

Design and coding are skills just like any other that you learn by doing and doing and doing. I say you do it. When your done you will know which was more fun, designing or coding it. If you are lucky you will have enjoyed both equally.

Tis better than I could do. I say keep playing. I agree about the text size in relation to overall size.

One thing I learned when I was first starting out was that I would notice that during the middle of the project I would become dissatisfied with my progress and I would scrap the project. However, I noticed that the times I just gritted my teeth and finished out what I had started I learned a lot more and my designs after finishing it would be a lot stronger. So finish it for benchmarking purposes if nothing else.

I also agree about the text size comments above.

I dunno, I just made what first came into my head. If I were to make it into some sort of website I would make the text smaller and drastically change the side column as I Think it looks out of place.

While your layout is fine, Your graphics are very plain and old looking.

Anyway,
as others have said, Keep at it.
Once its coded, Play with different images etc

You should continue designing, but the site reminds me of a power point presentation. The font just seems entirely to big for the web, and it feels rather dated. Keep at it though, and you'll get a feel for what is popular now, and how to make those sites.

It's very basic, but of course just like any developed skill it will take some time to perfect. If you like doing it, keep doing it; it's that simple.

Personally, I feel it would be better to learn using orginal designs and creativity than starting out by copying other sites. There are far too many people who utalise other peoples designs, it breeds un-imaginative design and lazyness.

ItssAlex,

For a beginner its great! Anyone who shoots your design down obviously dosnt understand the level you are at.

The only way to learn is to experiment, sure you could try copying/tracing other sites but what would that teach you?

Every design you do will improove, in one way or another.

The biggest bonus to your first designs is that they will be very basic and straight forward. Thus they will be easier to code and learn to code.

As your design skill increases so will your coding skills etc, this will mean that the pace you learn at will be more natural and you will find it easier and more effective.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your progress.

Looking good for a beginner..
Keep on improving your skills.

But i would go for mor "clean" designs.

Personally i like surfing around some of the "premium templates" sites, to get inspiration.
