with IE8, they have introduced tabs, how can you open a link in a new tab rather then a new browser?

Is there a cross-browser syntax for

1. Open in same window
2. Open in new tab
3. Open in new browser

in HTML and/or PHP and/or JS?

1. Open in same window - Uneccessary
Normal behaviour for links, but the superfluous target="_self" can be applied

2. Open in new tab - No, but can be set in user prefences in most browsers

3. Open in new browser - the target attribute

The target attribute is of course deprecated in XHTML DTDs except for "Frameset"

In Internet explorer 8 you can open new tab with use of CTRL+t key.In internet explorer 8 new tab option is very good for internet user. Through this option user can open more than one web site in that browser.
