You can make a website in many applications, such as Microsoft word. It's coded correctly some how, but when you look at it (or at least me) I have no clue what it means. Stick with hand coding your site. It won't be AS messy as those programs that you drag stuff.

It's not a lot of memorizing, really.
It's mostly memorizing and then understanding
I taught myself how to make websites in Notepad when I was 15. I'm 24 now, and I still use Notepad.
IMO using programs to create websites is cheating (that's just my opinion, no offense to those who use Dreamweaver, etc), and it's actually more work for those of us who use Notepad. (we have to take out a lot of crap we dont want and move things around, and re-name things, and blah blah blah) Using anything other than a text editor over complicates things AND you never REALLY learn what you're doing. All you're really learning how to do is click menu options; and I guess that's fine if you're just trying to pass a class. Personally, I think teachers should be teaching students how to actually write html, css, javascript, asp, php (etc) with their mind, instead of with a program they have to resort to pirating
I'm not saying I'm a pro, I'm self taught. I never had someone show me if I'm doing something right or wrong. I'm just giving my honest opinion. Programs actually are useful learning tools for a novice, I just don't think you should use them if you're serious about making websites. How can you call it your work if all you did was click a few buttons? It might be faster, but so is making a skeleton and adjusting it as needed
