Well i am brand new to html and using the html lessons I am creating a little practice page using the notepad program and viewing it in my browser to see how it looks. I have been trying to put an image on there with no luck

file:///C:/Users/Mine/Documents/cress.jpg is what i have when I right click the red x and copy. the photo as you can see, is inn a folder of mine.

<img src="cress.jpg" alt="cress" width="32" height="32" />

is what I copy from the notepad code.

you need to get the path to your images correct "image.ext" will only work IF the image is in the same folder as the document.

<img src="boat.gif" alt="Big Boat" />

will work.

Make sure the boat.gif file is in the same directory on your computer as the index.html

This for example will work:

<img src="http://www.google.com/images/srpr/nav_logo13.png" alt="googles logo" />

Here we have the full path to the image..

<img src="nav_logo13.png" alt="googles logo" />

Will not. Unless that file is in the same place as your .html file.

<img src="../nav_logo13.png" alt="googles logo" />

Will work if the image was in the folder down from where your html file is..

Thanks for the link drops!

If you had actually read the thread, you'd know that was suggested by Chris, and this is how Steviie is learning HTML. Common, it's a short thread!

ok Lynxus,I put the practice page and photo in the same album and it is displaying, very small though and I cant resize it. I am guessing if I were to build an actualy site that the folder the pages and photos are in would all get uploaded to the server together, correct?

What is the ACTUAL size of the image? Those are the dimensions you should be putting on the <img> tag - and you should NOT leave the dimensions out of the html, you never want to make the browser calculate.
