What you're interested in using is what's called 'geolocation' info. You'll need to either utilize server-side back-end coding to take the user IP, search your database (that contains IP block to geographic location) to estimate the zip code.
An alternative is to search the web for 'geolocation services' as I seem to recall a few websites that allowed webmasters to make a remote call to their geo-tables to determine the geographic location of the visiting customer.
This does assume the user is visiting from their actual IP, and not a proxy :-)
