theres a million and one resources on the net about all the new stuff html5 can do
just have a google and you'll learn heaps about it
my understanding is that it is just another version of html that has removed some tags and added some new ones, html5 isnt yet a standard and will take a while to become one although many people are using it at the moment.
its best to keep using html4 for all professional projects but if your experimenting have a look at some html5 tags but dont be surprised if they dont work in all browsers; firefox, chrome and safari seem to support a lot of the new tags though
