I recently designed a website and the only major compatiblity issue I have is that the background does not show up in an AOL browser. The client happens to prefer that browser so I have been researching this issue and have not been able to find a solution. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The AOL badged browser is basically the worlds second worst browser EVER! in disguise.

Treat it like IE6 and all should be Ok. (If you can call IE6 Ok of course)

My experience says that I.E gives you some pain over browser compatibility issues, but other popular browsers are friendly and behave properly.

As far as AOL is concerned, I dont think you really need to bother about these browsers. Just make your site compatible with the popular browsers and thats it.

What about an URL? Or HTML/CSS code? Otherwise we can not take a look.

Isn't the AOL browser actually just Internet Explorer rebranded?

It's not "rebranded" as such, it is the IE rendering engine that is embedded (compiled) into the AOL application.

I wouldn't bother caring about that. I normally like to feed IE6 a blank style sheet so they get the content but not the styling, or put up a page telling people to update their browser.

Like others have said, you need to treat AOL like IE6. AOL uses the same rendering engine which basically means that it is utterly useless, I don't know why anyone would use it. Firefox all they way

Soon IE6 will obsolete.
But another way to fixed some bug in IE6 is to have it with different style sheet aside from your main stylesheet.

IE6 will be supported by MS until 2014... that's not soon.

I have the impression that you are using a box model problem because you are rendering in quirks mode. IE7 +, and all other browsers use the W3C box model, while using IE6 IE box model in quirks mode.
