I've noticed that FB connect doesn't seem to validate, is this something we should really concern ourselves with? I've have a lot of FB Connect sites to build but want to really be strict on standards and it's bugging me to see the errors come up.

Many of the major sites out there do not validate. Try and validate your stuff as best you can and disregard the fb errors

Validation is not a serious thing.
www.google.com has 35 errors

Check the link

Web standards validation are a myth built up by the W3C, which furthers and protects their institution. It's important to have standards, so that browser vendors can more easily create an environment which is compatible with other browsers, however, there has never in the history of web browsers been a browser that has implemented all of the W3C recommendation.

For big business like Facebook or Google, production is about results, not shadowy ideals.

Google and other big companies do not need W3C validation.

I like valid sites...

I see validation in a way to show that I can validate my sites and I have the knowledge to do it.

You don't need to validate your sites to be successful in Google or any other Search Engine.

You don't need to validate anything in fact. As long as your site uploads quickly and it does the job, I think that's fine. When I have to install the FB Connect thing I never validate my sites.

I will say don't even validate if you don't need it. In fact I don't thing anybody needs to validate but people just do it.

Exactly which piece of Facebook Connect isn't validating? They have an asynchronous loader in the latest API - that should validate no matter what, because there's no HTML to add to your page... just some script in the <head></head>
