Hey!

I was a little silly question, but hey ..
I am currently redoing my site A to Z and I asked a basic question!
We know that it is advisable not to exceed 70 letters in the title tag, but the spaces between words count for a letter?

Thank you in advance

I really don't know. That 70 character limit is really only for search engines. To be honest, I don't really think it's even so important these days. I mean, if you use Chrome, for example, you only see the first word or two anyway. Same for Opera.

You can have Titles greater than 70 characters, the search engines may only DISPLAY the first 70 characters, but they READ ALL of it and index it.

If you've got more than 70 characters in you TITLE though, I think you should split your page up a little!

AND

The displayed title in the SERPS does NOT necessarily start with the first word in the title.

I think title tag should not more than 70 to 80 characters. Its also true that many sites have more than this length but this is not good according to google.

There is NOTHING about the number of characters in the title "according to Google".

It's simply just imaginative "theories" from "experts"

Try not to stuff your title with keywords. That is what the keywords meta tag is for.

Here is an article that explains it pretty well:

Ahh yes... another myth from the SEO "experts"...

Yes, there was a period in time where search engines pretty much ignored the keywords tag. The reason for this was that the same SEO "experts" were using the keywords tag to SPAM search engines.

Things change however and search engines continue to advance. The situation is now as follows: If your keywords tags contains content that is ACTUALLY ON THE WEB PAGE, then they are very useful and search engines will make good use of them. IF however they contain content that IS NOT ON THE WEB PAGE, then the page/site will be suitably penalized.

The same goes for any other tricks from the so called experts, eg, your title tag and meta description.

You are better to keep your title tag around 65 chars, since they should be designed to be useful to PEOPLE.

We have found that to match title tag to h1 tag works the best for SEO

No myth.

Only one Internet search engine uses the meta keywords content value for search results.
The same search engine also uses the meta description content for search as well.

These things are so easy to test.
