Can anyone help why the site I am working on loads so slow...click on http://www.envytan.com/index3.htm

The images and backgrounds are tiny in terms of kbs and I can't tell whether it's my code or hosting or what...

Thanks so much,

T.

It loads slow for me and I use 2mb Broadband. It seems to get stuck halfway through loading, and that is on a refresh too, so i would look at your code, rather than the host.

Hi it loaded quickly for me here what speed is your isp, also your isp could be having problems, also it could depend on the extension of the images for example i think jpg is quicker but gif uses transparency, personally i like gif and dont see any difference in download speed between them, also in macromedia fireworks you can test it to see how long each images or will take to download on a certain speeded modem.

Hope this helps
thanks

The difference in download speeds of the two file types depends on the file. Which you use should depend on what sort of image it is, not download speed. JPG shoild be used for full colour images such as photos, as GIF only supports 256 colours. GIFs should be used for things like image buttons which don't require many colours, but might require transparency or smaller file sizes.
