I have a question about tables. I've seen and downloaded sites to examine how they do this and that as I am amateur self-taught web designer but this I cannot figure out.

1) With Microsoft FrontPage 2000 I imported an example page address of: http://www.innvirginia.com/index.html

2)The table used in this example is set up with text and graphics. When you look at the table in NORMAL view using MS Frontpage, the images in rows and columns don't seem to come together, they are uneven and broken. In PREVIEW everything comes together and looks like it should. Can't figure out how this is done. I know they have created tables within tables and added spacers.gif. etc. but how is it they were able to organize this table to fit everything in just the right place with outcome looking perfect in PREVIEW mode versus how it really appears in NORMAL view?

If you use FrontPage, download this http://www.innvirginia.com/index.html page to view it in NORMAL / HTML / PREVIEW modes and you'll see what I mean.

I am stumped and would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks, K.

normal view is "edit mode" for MS Frontpage, so therefore you will see the tables boundaries and other stuff that you might not see when you go to "preview mode".

Here are the modes:
Normal: WYSIWYG Editor
HTML: Code format where you can change the html, css, or other code.
Preview: What the page will look like when it is published (only with frontpage, it will look like what it says in IE, there might be conflicts when displayed in another browser such as Firefox, opera, nn, etc)

So, this is normal what you are seeing and is ok. Get to know frontpage a little more and have fun.

Reply to Drew,
Thanks for your info but I already know this. This is not what I mean. If I could show you or you download http://www.innvirginia.com/index.html and open it up in Frontpage and look at it in NORMAL then in PREVIEW you would understand maybe what I am talking about. I have tried myself to recreate this with tables and images but the are gaps between the cells of columns & rows where I need the images to come together without a break in these tables and can't manage to recreate it like on http://www.innvirginia.com/index.html
Thanks, K.

well, it looks fine to me. but i will make you aware that i am using MS frontpage 2003, and yes i know you are using MS frontpage 2000. if you are talking about dotted lines, that is just to show that there is a table there with a value of "0" for the border. but you probably already know this. in my ms frontpage, everything looks fine.

Well, Drew, thanks anyway for efforts. I do appreciate very much your time with this. I have expired my attempts to get this to work on my personal webpage and will try to show a local web designer and mentor visually what I am seeing in NORMAL & PREVIEW mode and see if she can make sense of what I am trying to understand. She has been out of town and that's why I went online to see if I could get this answered by someone.
Thanks, K.
