noclick doesnt work all that well.... when i come accross something i want that is protected by noclick i just open IE and right click hit space and immediately right click again and it works
plus if they really want it they can just fish around your source code
i dont know any alternatives however... but i definately wouldnt recommend no right click... sometimes a right click is neccessary...

For the images, try looking for photo album script(s) that dont allow saving...however for the text I dont know maybe use one of those photo albums and make your text a graphic....

You should never block right click.

Preventing access to the content of a page is impossible, since the data must be accessible in order to be rendered by the UA.

If you do not want people to be able to copy your content, the only solution is not to publish it in the first place.

Rufo.

Rufo is exactly right, anything you put on the internet becomes public domain. If you don't want anybody taking.... don't put it up. The only thing you can do is have a strong copywrite notice up. Any kind of scripting you add to prevent stealing can easily be circumvented.

There are various methods to prevent theft from your Intelectual Property, unfortunately most of them can be circumvented.

I strongly disagree with the statements "anything you put on the internet becomes public domain" & " you do not want people to be able to copy your content, the only solution is not to publish it in the first place" but that's not helping the original posters question is it!?

First, anything that goes on the Internet is protected IMMEDIATELY by local and International copyright laws! And there are sooo many holes in the second theory that it's not funny. There is a serious problem with the potential growth of the Internet if that is the attitude. But again, not helping...

To answer the original question, for copy/paste of text you can out this in your body tag
Code:
ondragstart="return false" onselectstart="return false"
As far as images, you can add an invisible layer over top of the originals and an unknowing save will produce an empty space.

You could also watermark your images to prevent theft or at least make them noticable is they are stolen. That is the single BEST method for protecting your images unless you slice them and even then, they can be recomposed. Liz

I would have hoped that my message was clear: don't bother.
As well as being ineffective, no right click/highlight scripts are the hallmarks of amateurs.

That isn't helping either.

Here is a copy of the copywrite law as it pertains to anything.
Whatiscopyright
Copyright Law in the United States

Here is another place to look for Java (and norightclick):
List of Lists Liz

Your are right, but unless you've got a team of lawyers working for you, there's not much that can be done. There's nothing stopping anybody from going to your site and taking an image, or 'borrowing' some text. Scripts to block right click, and prevent text selections don't work.. they just annoy the visitors.

Rufo, I understand but if you had gone TO THAT link, you would see that it is placed in a number of sections and norightclick may be on ONE of those sections. The List of Lists is a HUGE collection of websites all stored under one roof and I just picked one term to search. I tried using "norightclick" and came up blank...Liz

Right, that's what I said at the end of the sentence.

Don't need an army, just one to draft a single Cease and Desist will get any offenses removed or sites shut down. And I agree with your second sentence, this is why it is so important to try to protect Intellectual Property.

My comment was not on the irrevevance of your link, but upon your mistaken belief that the terms Java and JavaScript are synonymous.

Thanks for all your input and lively discussion...just because I put something on the Internet DOES NOT make it public domain and legal protections still apply.

Are you sure that was deliberate, though?

the best advice i can give is to have a copyright notice on everypage, and if you come accross content that belongs to you on another page, report it to the hosting company, and they will most likely fully cooperate with you in any manner conserning stolen content
