yea, padding is part of the "box model". IE doesnt render it correctly. heres a fix called "the box model hack" link: http://tantek.com/CSS/Examples/boxmodelhack.html

Check your versons. In IE6 the box model is fine. The problem is in IE5 (not sure about 4).

You don't need to use the box model hack as long as you use a DOCTYPE which will switch IE6 into compliant mode. (There are some DOCTYPE configurations which will stick it into quirks mode - this is where it assumes you wrote the code for IE5 so renders it as IE5 would of done, with the incorrect box model)

Easier to stay away from box-modelling. Just use extra cells to create the padding.

I was originally doing that however I found when no content, the width isnt always there. When stick an image spacer in there, this is fine until view with no images and if insert a   in the cell, its width is often too long.

Could you perhaps better inform me as to a solution for this.

cheers.
Steve

Just define the width properties. When you go into the editor, if there is an   in the cell that you want to make small, get rid of it. The width should always be there.
