you create one page like the one on the left where you have all the questions/chapters/links, a page for each of those questions/chapters/links, have every link open the corresponding page in the second frame.

is this what you want to know?

Not quite.

I want to know 'how' you do that!

I've never worked with frames before.

oh ...
this is how you create two vertical frames:
HTML Code:
<frameset cols="WIDTH OF FIRST,WIDTH OF SECOND">
  <frame src="FILE TO BE DISPLAYED IN THE FIRST" name="NAME OF FIRST">
  <frame src="FILE TO BE DISPLAYED IN THE SECOND" name="NAME OF SECOND">
</frameset>
then in the links you set the target attribute to the name of the frame where the page should open like this:

HTML Code:
<a href="HREF" target="NAME OF SECOND">link text</a>
is this what you needed to know?
