Hi All,

I really need help on this...

I have produced a web site for a client.

www.suburbanmedia.co.uk/arlingweb

All has been fine until the client viewed the site. They can see some images but not some thumbnails. They are running IE 6.029.

Naturally we tested the site and have found it to be working on all platforms and browers, except, we have not been able to test on 6.029 (we've done 6.028 and various other versions of IE).

As extra peices of info: being a design studio, we primarily use Macs. Also, the client has tested the site on a number of machines around their group, finding the same problem on all machines - some even in a different geographic area.

Now here's the really weird bit - a mate of mine reckons the site works on IE 6.029!!

Dammit, does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I reckon its a problem at the client end, but how do you prove it?

Many, many thanks to anyone who can offer thoughts,

Zak

Your links not working right now. The only things i could think of that might be the problem but not exactly sure would be their connection, was it slow? maybe the thumbs just didnt load. Or mayeb it was something to do with your host, but it sounds like they had the same problem on many machines at many times so i doubt it would be the host.

You'ce already proven the problems probably on the client end if you had someone test it with IE 6.029 and it worked.

Why not ask your clients to show you what is happening so you can trouble shoot from there. Not to diss using Macs, but the way things display in IE on a Mac and on IE on Windows are quite different sometimes. Might be good to have an inexpensive Windows box around with the latest browsers to help you troubleshoot.

Good Luck!

i had a similar problem and my site worked fine locally but not remotely. If you had a three folders named "htmlpages1"/morehtmlpages" "htmlpages2" in your web folder.

index.html lives in your web folder and you want to link to it from a page in "htmlpages2" starttag a href="pagename" SRC="../ index.html" my index endtag. The charactors ../ tell the browser to go up one level, in this case to "web folder" to look for the file. "../../" tells it to go up two levels etc

To link to a pic in "htmlpages1" from a page in "/morehtmlpages" then SRC="../picname.jpg".

If the pic was in the web folder and the page linking to it was in "/morehtmlpages" then src="../../picname.jpg"

Now if the pic was in the same folder as the page linking to it, then src="picname.jpg"

Good Luck

Thanks for the tips so far. Will give them all a tryout. Except buying a PC - already have two here for testing...

By the way, the link is here - forgot in my frustration to add a "2" to the end of the URL!! Sorry guys.

Thanks again,
