Help Please!

I am being driven nuts by a page width issue.

All looks good in Dreamweaver, then I check in IE and Firefox browsers.

I then copy DW code and paste HTML into my Shopping software (Evolve Merchant 4). Despite all widths being 100, 98 or 95%, the pages never display over a full page on opening.

I have to build my pages in four sections - header, footer, body and nav bar - it's the body that's causing the issues. The Evlolve page width is set at 100%.

However, if I go to 'About Us' - a page that does display at 100% correctly on opening (more often than not, but not always) - and then open the homepages, they are all great in IE, but not in Firefox. The page width code is the same in About Us as in other pages.

I thought that my firewall influenced the widths....... but again not consistently.

The site is www.watchmore.tv. How do I find this bug - I have checked each page code, the admin section, the scripting section, the Evolve sections..... How on earth do I go about fixing it? ANY suggested solutions are sooooooooo welcome.

Thanks

You only have a partial doctype which will allow IE to be in"quirks" mode. Start with a Full Doctype first of all and then set the design up and test in FF first, IE should display the same with maybe only minor differences.

Hi Chris

Thank you ever so much for the tip.

I know that this would be normally found at the top of the page, but with Evolve, as there are the four individual sections where do I place?

1. Genre headers
2. Body of each page
3. Elsewhere

Thanks once again

Hello again

I have tried to insert Doc Type into page body, genre headers and main header (made a lot of sense). For some reason, the set up within Evolve will not allow this (insert on site page > save, then return and code has gone).

Now at a loss. That little glimmer of hope has now faded..........Any suggestions where I ight be able to insert this in the code back end? I also have a scripts section, but one appears to be for stlye script and another for javascript.

You need to locate this
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
in the templates

and replace it with the full doctype for the same version (4.01 transitional)
It may not be in the template you can edit directly but may be in a configuration file somewhere. 'fraid I know nothing about Evolve so I can't tell you exactly where it goes.
