I have worked for a week trying to validate two very small blocks of code in 4.01 Strict loose DTD with no success.

One is an iframe and the other is a PHP Insert. It looks good but does not validate.

I have tried everything I know and just can't do it

Does anyone want to take on a small validation fix?

Thanks a lot,

Bob

Hello,

You can see the code at
http://www.usernomics.com/ergonomic-...essories5.html .
It is the two almost identical scroll boxes and the Amazon ad.

I showed this in another thread but I don't have enough knowledge to implement the advice I did get. Even when I add amp; to the "&" it messes up the format.

Do you still want me to add the actual code here?

Thanks a lot for looking at this,

Bob

Hello,

OK, the code is below for two scroll boxes and an Amazon ad. I also added the relevant CSS.

Thanks Again,

Bob

__

This is the relevant CSS:

.centermedium{
text-align:center;
font-size: 85%;
font-weight: normal;
padding: 5px 0px 5px 0px
}

.centerall{
text-align:center;
font-size: 120%;
font-weight: bold;
padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
margin: 20px auto 5px auto;
}

div.scroll {
height: 160px;
width: 145px;
overflow: auto;
text-align: left;
border: 2px solid #999;
background-color: #ccc;
padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
margin: 0px auto 0px auto;
}

Two Very Similar Scroll Boxes:

http://validator.w3.org/

You can upload your file here and get a list of errors. You did use a doctype right? At the very top of your page? The DTD in your doctype has the full path(http://somesite/somefile.file) and not the short path(../somefile.file)

Hello,

The doctype is: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> .
Does that look right to you?

I realize why the code isn't validating. That Insert is pulling n a PHP from another site that I don't have control of. It is their PHP code that does not validate. When I have the page in my HTML Editor, the PHP is not yet imported and it does validate. I don't think there is anything I can do with their PHP code do you?

Hi fancymoustache,

Thanks for checking but I removed that test page and the link defaulted to my home page which does not have the relevant code. You can see it now on several of my pages such as: http://www.usernomics.com/user-interface-design.html .
