Hi I am new to designing and have designed a website for a funeral home and they would like to archive their obits, and be able to offer their vistors the ability to search for past obits that they have had and I have no ideal how to do this or where to go to get help on this. Could someone point me in the right direction please. Thanks a bunch. katie

Well Katie, you would probably be best of by setting up a database in which they would be able to store the information. They would then be able to search on a number of items, such as name, year, date, and such.

This would mean that you are setting up a database driven, dynamic website.
If you are new to this subject, it might be a little bit hard to do, but you can only learn by trying!
So search Google for some tutorials to get some knowledge about the subject. Don't hesitate to ask questions when you get stuck

If the database route is a bit too much for you (no offense btw) then you could just do the webpage as normal, have all the obits on different pages and then install a site search engine such as...

http://php.resourceindex.com/Complet...Your_Web_Site/

or

http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Program...Your_Web_Site/

There are plenty of free ones on either of those links - guess it depends what your web server supports...

Cheers,
SC

Or, you could use a CMS (Content Management System) such as Mambo and place them all on the site. On top of that, you can search the entire site, it's super-easy to update, and easy to use.
