Flash or Flash or HTML layers, what are the pros and cons of each. I am trying to decide what one to use. I just don’t know which one to use. With flash I can align my images precisely. Is using layers the same, and do all browser’s show layers?

Thanks for any help

personally i dont like flash sites.. cant stand them..

i would def go for html layers.

they are easily manageable via a simple code and you basically dont need a specific software to modify the layouts etc.. etc..

almost all of the latest browsers (99%) support them and only the old ones dont render them properly..

benefits :

all mentioned above +

fast loading pages,
easily spidered by engines.
full control over layouts.
if u use an external css to control the layout - its ur imagination. change them all by just changing one file.
and most of all, you will have the good feeling that you have a cool site based on w3c standards and which looks and loads much better than others

edit : also if u using dreamweaver then you can use the layout mode(editor) to draw ur layouts and position your images and dreamweaver will automatically do the codes for you.

html layers more search engine friendly than flash. But flash more attractive and apealing. May be a mixture of both.

Who are your target audience? I think this will dictate what you do.

If you ask a group of Flash developers they will favour Flash, other developers and non-Flash designers will favour an alternative such as CSS, but the site is not usually being created for the benefit of these groups.

Accessibility and marketing-wise I would favour a non-Flash solution but I'm not a Flash developer.
