Hope you can help the noob.. Could someone tell me how I can go about creating the code, where an image remains static in the background, even when you scroll down the page? Is this a job for CSS or can it be done in HTML?

Diane, that is all good and well when your background-image is large enough to fill the screen. But if you have it the proper way (a small tile), then repeat it (on either x or y) and put position: static; you get the effect that the threadstarter wanted. Your method only works on browers of the same size as yours with backgrounds similar to yours.
