wuz up , webmasters,
I'm a rookie at this hole web designing art and I was adviced to join a web design forum. Lucky all of you, you're at the top of the list but lets not waste anymore time. When I say I'm a rookie I mean the only thing I've mastered in web design is cut & paste (go ahead and laugh) besides that I don't know too much. So here is my question.
How do I edit or type in HTML or CSS codes in any dreamweaver edition?
...Ready
...Set
...Go!

Firstly let me say welcome to the team.

Use the Code mode in Dreamweaver.

May I also suggest that you get an E-Book on HTML/CSS.

Welcome, Jolly,
I'm fairly new here also. You're in for a special treat because these guys will knock your socks off with the knowledge they hold.

Anyway, here's a good place to start to learn this whole thing about creating a website and learning CSS. It's not difficult at all, but very tedious at first until you get the hang of it.

Read these sites:

A very easy way to Learn HTML

An Introduction to XHTML

CSS Tutorial

BTW -->I learned CSS by using that last link. If I can learn it, anyone can!!

Hope this helps,
DianeD

Hey Twitch,
I found that HTML Source in Dreamweaver.
ThanX
And DianeD,
Extra thanX to you. I'm studying HTML with ease with this sites you pointed out. And with my HTML source I can apply what I've learned.
If you guys don't here from me in a while it's because I'm still studying my codes.
ThanX Again

I learned:
1) Through school.
2) Through checking the source code on other peoples pages.
3) Through trial and error.

I advise you to look at all the coding on your favorite web-pages and find out what does what through trial and error.

Also, there are some cood HTML and CSS tutorials on: http://www.w3schools.com/

Writing your own code is always prefferable to having a program do it for you.

Your much more respected if you code on your own, plus if you actually work as a webmaster, you pretty much HAVE to code your own code, otherwise it looks very un-professional. That said, There's many way you can learn html, xhtml, asp, PHP and such, but to start off, html is your best bet. You can either a) Buy a html book, b) Take a local college course if they offer one, c) take a highschool course (if your still in highschool and if they offer one), d) read online tutorials.. There's many great ways of learning htmland later on learning more advanced webprogramming if your really interested in it. But yeah, it's best to start off with html, and if you use Dreamweaver as I seemed to have picked up, I would say go buy a book on it, it'll help you lots with your illegally obtained dreamweaver software

Well ehm. I learned the basic HTML by typing some text, making hyperlinks and adding pictures to a page in a WYSIWYG editor. Then I took a look to the code, to find out what I've changed.

When i learned the basics, I just followed some threads at severall webmaster-forums. It's peace of cake, really.

CSS I learned by following a Dutch tutorial. I don't think that will help you

ThanX again ya'll, I've already completed the html study in http://www.echoecho.com/html.htm - now I'm just playing around and learning more about coding. But let me ask two more questions if I may.
1) How do I check codes on other web sites exactly?
2) & how do I make a html file?

1/ Visit the page, then, depending on browser;
IE. right click on the page, select "View source". OR, Select "View" then "Source" from the main menu.
NN. & FF. right click select "View Page Source". OR, Select "View", "Page Source" from main menu. OR, Press Ctrl+U.

2/ Open your text editor, Type in your HTML code then save the file as [insert your filename] with an extension of .htm or .html

<added> Now I get your other thread a little better </added>
