I had seen long ago and even copied the script that would make a page require a password without the use of php. It really wasn't a password but the html page tricked the browser into needing one. I have a page that I wish to make private but it really dosen't need to be secure. If that makes sense. Does anyone know how this is done?

Thanks in adavance

Make sure you can't just type in the url of the 'members area' and bypass the password prompt.

Any method of protection that uses javascript is mot likely very insecure. Make sure whatever it is you're "protecting" isn't mission critical, because anyone who knows what they're doing could get in in seconds.
