Well your layout is fixed both vertically and horizontally, so if the font size is different, it's going to overlap with other elements. Try setting the height of your black bordered boxes to "auto" and see what you get

Hey Daygon,

I think auto is the default for height so if you take the height property out of your styles in the divs that should do it. If you want to make sure and not count on the default you would use height: auto in layers 2-5.

You don't actually need to make images for the black boxes. css has a border property you can use to create the same effect. You would want to add borders to each of the divs. The code would look something like this:

div#Layer1 {border-width:3px; border-style:solid; border-color:#000000}

Your borders look like they are 3px wide, but they could also be 4px or 5 px.

The css code above would be put in the head section between style tags. Putting your css in style tags is preferrable to putting them directly in your html. Better still would be to have your css styles in an external style sheet. It will still work using style="css properties" as you have done.

There's a shortcut for the above css as well. Instead of spelling out all the specific properties you could use:

div#Layer1 {border:1px solid #000}

I think they need to be in that order, but I'm not 100% sure. The #000 will still be the same black as #000000. When the hexidecimal pairs repeat as in #223344 you can replace the pair with a single digit and use #234 instead.

There are pleantly of places to find good tutorials, although I can't think of any off the top of my head, just try some google searches you should get hundreds of great resources.

Just out of interest, the page is titled "Cold Tunnel Webdesign", is this for a web design company or something?

Are you looking for tutorials on how to design the look of the site or how to code your design? Either way you should be able to find plenty through search engines. If anything you'll probably need to refine your search since their is so much info online.
